Green-Schools is Ireland’s leading environmental management and education programme for schools.
Promoting long-term, whole-school action for the environment Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community. The programme is operated and coordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce.
Our children are taught to respect nature, waste, energy, water consumption and their carbon footprint.
We currently have five Green Flags in Scoil Mhuire. Our co-ordinator Múinteoir Tomás Clarke, Múinteoir Orla Whelan and our Green Team Committee were awarded our fifth flag this year which focused on Biodiversity.
We will continue to increase awareness of the importance of native plants, animals and habitats, and to increase species-richness in our locality this year.
